A Federal High Court in Lagos on Monday granted bail to activist Scott Iguma, who is facing trial for allegedly posting a false video and issuing threats to life.

Naijaonpoint reports that the court set the bail at N10 million.

The ruling was given by Justice Friday Oghazi, who also directed that Iguma must provide one surety with the same bail amount.

The surety must either own property within the court’s jurisdiction or be a civil servant with at least grade level 12, working with the Federal or Lagos State Government.

Proof of tax payment is also required.

The court instructed both Iguma and the complainant to avoid making public comments about the case since it is already before the court.

This order was made to ensure fairness as the legal process unfolds.

The Nigerian Police brought Iguma before the court on July 17, accusing him of violating the Cybercrimes Act by circulating a video deemed false and threatening.

He is facing a four-count charge under the amended 2024 Cybercrimes (Prohibition, Prevention) Act.

During the bail hearing, Iguma’s lawyer asked the court to approve bail on fair terms, while the prosecution said they had no objection but requested that both parties be warned not to publish anything related to the case online or in the media.

The defence also asked that the complainant be stopped from speaking to the press.

The case has been adjourned to October 10, 2025, for trial.
