Court grants Sirika, daughter, two others N100m bail each

A Federal High Court in Abuja has granted ₦100 million bail to former Aviation Minister Hadi Sirika, his daughter, and two others.

They are being tried for suspected fraud of ₦2.7 billion.

The court also requires them to submit two sureties who must have landed property in Abuja. The sureties, the court ruled, must likewise be responsible citizens.

The sureties must swear to an affidavit of means. The court also prohibited the accused from travelling overseas without its authorization.

If the defendants did not comply with their bail conditions, Justice Oriji ruled that they be remanded in prison.

The sureties must own landed properties in the FCT with legitimate titles. The trial will begin on the 10th, 11th, and 20th of June.
