WATCH THE VIDEO HERE A Nigerian man identified as Freedom Sunday Akabuchi, who was arrested by officials of Lagos State Parks and Gardens Agency (LASPARK) for cutting a wire mesh pole at Peace Park Ojota, was on Wednesday, May 28, arraigned before a Magistrate Court in Bolade Oshodi, convicted and sentenced to 6 months in prison. Freedom was arraigned on a 3-count charge involving Conduct likely to cause breach of peace, Wilful damage to government property and stealing of government property. When the charges were read to him, he pleaded guilty to the 1st and 3rd charge and was sentenced to 6 months imprisonment while for the 2nd count, a date for trial was fixed for after the completion of the 6 months prison sentence. Speaking on the conviction, Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, said there is zero tolerance for vandalism of government property and infrastructure in the state. He advised all residents to remain law abiding and refrain from vandalising public infrastructure which is for the public good.
