The Federal High Court sitting in Lagos has ordered prominent businessman, Oba Otudeko, to appear before it and take his plea in the ongoing ₦30 billion fraud case filed against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

Presiding over the case, Justice Chukwujekwu Aneke ruled on Monday that Otudeko must be arraigned before any application challenging the court’s jurisdiction can be considered.

The EFCC had earlier filed a 13-count charge against Otudeko and three others over an alleged fraudulent loan transaction amounting to ₦30 billion.

At the hearing, Justice Aneke reiterated that the defendant must first enter a plea before any jurisdictional objections could be entertained.

Following this ruling, the court adjourned the case to May 8 for further proceedings.
