WATCH THE VIDEO HERE The national executive committee of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), led by Wole Adesina, has raised the alarm over what it described as two disturbing developments threatening the unity and integrity of the party. In a statement issued on Monday, Alfa Mohammed, national publicity secretary of the faction, condemned the influx of aggrieved politicians forming a coalition with the sole aim of ousting President Bola Tinubu without offering a clear alternative agenda for Nigeria. Mohammed said: “The influx of some aggrieved politicians in a desperate coalition to ‘send President Bola Ahmed Tinubu back to Lagos’ without showcasing any clear-cut alternative agenda for Nigeria’s transformation. “The party is not for sale or lease to any group, and will not be part of any anti-government plots or coalition that lacks a clear alternative agenda for Nigeria’s transformation.” He said the party will continue to engage constructively with the federal government while holding it accountable, but will not align with any movement that seeks to derail the administration or undermine the mandate from the 2023 general election. The faction also urged SDP leaders across the country to resist attempts to usurp their leadership, and report such actions to the appropriate authorities. SDP had been projected as one of the parties likely to form coalition against the Bola Tinubu-led administration before now. The party has since been engulfed in crisis since the announcement by its leaders to join the political movement against the ruling government.
