Governor Bassey Otu has approved the disbursement of N800 million to support young entrepreneurs in Cross River State through agri-business ventures. Each selected beneficiary will receive N2 million as start-up capital. The initiative is designed to create jobs and strengthen food security across the state.

Speaking on the programme, Governor Otu said, “This is part of our commitment to empower entrepreneurs, reduce dependence on political appointments, and open sustainable pathways for wealth creation.”

A total of 400 youths from the state’s 18 local government areas have already completed a 14-day intensive training covering various agro-value chains.

Officials stated that additional batches of beneficiaries will receive support in the coming months, as the state government continues to implement measures aimed at boosting agriculture and increasing youth participation in the sector.
