In a statement signed by Press Secretary Fred Abua, Acting Governor Peter Odey made it clear that he was neither consulted nor was his opinion sought before the forum issued its statement. He emphasized that Cross River fully supports Tinubu’s decision, describing it as a move taken in the best interest of national security, peace, and stability. “The position of the forum does not reflect the views of the Government of Cross River State, which fully aligns with the decision of Mr. President,” the statement read. Odey stressed that every responsible government must prioritize the protection of lives and property and that where circumstances necessitate decisive action, such measures should be supported for the greater good of democracy and national unity.
