Crystal Palace have entered the race to sign Nigerian forward Christantus Uche from Getafe, moving quickly after selling Eberechi Eze to Arsenal, Footynaija.com reports.
The 22-year-old Super Eagles star had been close to joining Wolves this week in a £17m deal, but the transfer stalled after personal terms were left unsigned.
Palace have now stepped in with the aim of hijacking the agreement and strengthening their attacking options before the transfer window closes, according to the Daily Mail.
Palace’s interest follows their recent £48m agreement with Villarreal for Spanish winger Yeremy Pino, indicating a sudden surge of activity in a summer that had previously seen only £2m spent on Borna Sosa.
Walter Benitez also arrived on a free transfer, but the Eagles have otherwise kept a low profile in the market until now.

Uche, who can operate as a striker, attacking midfielder, or on the left flank, has impressed in Spain with his versatility and physical presence. Standing at 6ft 3in, he combines strength with technical ability, and last season registered four goals and six assists in 33 La Liga appearances.
