Cyriel Dessers injury update as Rangers prepare for UCL clash against Club Brugge

Super Eagles and Rangers forward Cyriel Dessers suffered an ankle twist in Rangers’ UEFA Champions League qualifiers clash against Viktoria Plzen, Soccernet.ng reports.

This led the 30-year-old to miss the Gers’ first leg clash against Club Brugge in the UCL qualifier at Ibrox, where they lost 3-1.

Following their 1-1 draw to St Mirren over the weekend, Rangers boss Russell Martin confirmed the Nigerian forward is in line to feature against Club Brugge today.

“I think it happens in football, but I’ll go back to Cyriel again. He’s working really hard to get fit, but he’s not there yet; he’ll probably be fit for Wednesday,” the former Southampton coach said in his pre-match quotes as revealed by the Rangers Review.

Speaking in his pre-match conference ahead of of clash at the Jan Breydelstadion in Brugge, the 39-year-old mentioned Dessers is back in training.

“Dessers is here and good to go back in the squad. I’m excited about the game. I think we have a real chance to come and attack,” Rusell Martin said, as revealed by the club’s social media page.

Should Dessers feature against Club Brugge, it could be his last game for Rangers as he’s got interest from several clubs outside of Scotland.
