Super Eagles and Rangers striker, Cyriel Kolawole Dessers, found the back of the net in his side’s 4-0 win over Aberdeen, Soccernet.ng reports.

The 30-year-old was bashed for his profligacy in front of goal last season, and was nearly sold during the January transfer window this term, but the Nigerian stood firm, and now his numbers speak for him.

Dessers scored 22 goals and provided seven assists in 54 games across all competitions for Rangers last season. He’s improved this season, scoring 26 goals and providing seven assists in 53 games for Barry Ferguson’s side.

Dessers thought he’d broken the deadlock in additional minutes of the first half, only to see his goal chalked off for offside by the VAR. Rangers came into the second half refreshed and ten minutes after the restart, found the back of the net.

Vaclav Cerny’s left footed strike after latching onto a brilliant pass from Belgian midfielder, Nicolas Raskin, left Aberdeen’s Dimitar Mitov in no man’s land.

Dessers missed another chance from Tavernier’s cross three minutes later but his goal finally came a minute past the hour mark. The Belgium-born striker fed off another brilliant pass from Raskin, cushioning the ball into the back of the net with his left foot.

Hamza Igamane put the game to bed in the 70th minute. His low driven shot from outside the box saw him score his 16th Rangers goal this season, across all competitions.

Leon Balogun came close to scoring as well, heading home from a Nicolas Raskin cross but his attempt was well saved by Mitov. Jefte scored the games’ fourth goal, tapping home from a Vaclav Cerny cross.

Rangers’ win does not have any impact on their league standings as they’re in pole position for UEFA Champions League qualification.
