The All Progressives Congress (APC) on Monday formally ushered in a new era of leadership as Hon. (Dr.) Ali Dalori assumed office as the Acting National Chairman of the party, following the resignation of Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje.
Dalori presided over his first National Working Committee (NWC) meeting at the APC National Secretariat in Abuja, where he vowed to work for unity, discipline, and commitment to President Bola Tinubu’s reform agenda.
“This appointment is not a personal victory. It is a responsibility I embrace with full awareness of the challenges ahead and the expectations of millions of our members and supporters across the nation,” Dalori said
The leadership transition was formally sealed during the NWC session. The National Secretary of the party, Senator Suraj Ajibola, presented Ganduje’s resignation letter and moved the motion for its acceptance.
The motion, which was seconded by other committee members, paved the way for Dalori, the Deputy National Chairman (North), to step in as Acting National Chairman in accordance with Article 14 of the APC Constitution.
“In line with the constitution, the Deputy National Chairman, Hon. Ali Bukar Dalori, assumes office as the Acting National Chairman pending the time the National Executive Committee fills the position,” Senator Ajibola declared.
In his address, Dalori praised the leadership of his predecessor, Dr. Ganduje, who took office in August 2023 and guided the party with “experienced leadership, steadfast commitment, and a clear sense of direction.”
He also wished Ganduje strength and full recovery, noting that the former chairman was stepping aside to focus on his health and well-being.
Dalori urged members of the NWC and the broader APC family to close ranks and avoid the pitfalls of political disunity.
“This is a period for consolidation —not conflict. For maturity — not division. And for vision — not personal ambition,” he stated.
He pledged to unveil a practical roadmap in the coming days, focused on strengthening internal party discipline, reconciliation, grassroots mobilization, communication, and stakeholder engagement.
Dalori expressed support for President Tinubu’s administration and the Renewed Hope Agenda, calling it “a living roadmap” already tackling key national challenges.
“The APC remains the political vehicle to drive this transformation. We will stand by the President in full loyalty and partnership,” he affirmed
With 2027 on the horizon, Dalori called for early preparations to energize the party’s structures and reconnect with the grassroots, while urging members to internalize the APC’s constitution, code of conduct, and operational guidelines.
He further called for unity and purpose, “Let us honour the past, serve the present, and prepare for a brighter future — as one united and determined APC family.”
