Aliko Dangote, Founder and President/Chief Executive of the Dangote Group, has accused Farouk Ahmed, the Chief Executive of the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA), of living beyond his means.
Dangote called for an investigation into Ahmed as tensions between the two men resurfaced.
Speaking to the press on Sunday, Dangote claimed that Ahmed spends $5 million annually on school fees for his children at a school in Switzerland.
The billionaire emphasised that even with his wealth, such expenditure would attract scrutiny.
“Mallam Farouk has four children whom he educated in Switzerland at a cost of $5 million for secondary school alone, not university.
“When you consider his income, it does not align with paying such fees. Even if I were paying $5 million over six years for my four children, the tax authorities would review my taxes and obligations.
“From Sokoto, where he hails, people struggle to pay N100,000 for school fees. Many children are unable to attend school because of such costs,” Dangote said.
Ahmed has not yet responded to the allegations made by Africa’s richest man.
