The body of Ruth Otabor, younger sister of Big Brother Naija Season 7 winner, Phyna, has been evacuated by representatives of the Dangote Group after her death on Sunday morning.

Naijaonpoint reports that Ruth, who lived in Edo State, died weeks after she was hit by a truck belonging to the company near Auchi Polytechnic.

The accident, which crushed her leg, had earlier led to an amputation.

She was confirmed dead around 6:30 a.m. on August 31, 2025.

Her family, through their lawyers, announced her passing and requested privacy as they mourn.

They also stated that details of her funeral would be shared later.

Family members told Punch that officials of the Dangote Group were contacted immediately after Ruth’s death, after which they took her remains to a mortuary.

“When she died this morning, the representatives of Dangote Group were contacted and notified. They later came and took the corpse to the mortuary. We are expecting that they take over the expenses of her burial, since they had stepped in to take over her medical expenses,” the source said.

Relatives described Ruth as a lively and caring person who was loved by many.

Eyewitnesses had recalled that the truck which hit Ruth was chased and stopped by a bystander after the crash.

Phyna had earlier called for her sister to be taken abroad for treatment before her death.

Following the accident, the Dangote Group acknowledged the incident, visited the hospital where Ruth was admitted, and pledged to cover her medical costs and offer support to the family.
