Dantata To Be Buried In Madinah Today As Dangote, Otedola Join Final Journey

Aminu Dantata

Billionaire businessman and renowned philanthropist, Aminu Dantata, will be laid to rest on Tuesday afternoon in Madinah, Saudi Arabia, in accordance with his long-standing wish to be buried in one of Islam’s holiest cities.

Naijaonpoint reports that Dantata, who passed away on Saturday in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, at the age of 94, will be interred at Jannatul Baqi Cemetery, adjacent to the Prophet’s Mosque, shortly after the Asr prayer, around 1:30 p.m. Nigerian time.

Although the burial was initially scheduled for Monday, it was postponed due to documentation delays involving both the Nigerian embassy in Saudi Arabia and the deceased’s family.

Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, who is part of the Nigerian government delegation attending the burial, confirmed the delay but assured that the process had been completed.

The Minister said, “Dantata will be laid to rest on Tuesday as both ends have worked to finalise the required documentation.”

Dantata’s son, Sanusi Dantata, announced on Tuesday morning via 𝕏 (formerly Twitter) that his father’s remains had arrived safely in Madinah.

Sanusi also revealed that Africa’s richest man, Aliko Dangote, accompanied the body on the journey from Abu Dhabi to Madinah. Dangote is Dantata’s great-nephew.

A 19-second video shared alongside ... showed billionaire Femi Otedola sitting beside Dangote, further highlighting the dignitaries present for the solemn journey.
