Darren Aronofsky’s Caught Stealing is finally arriving on streaming after failing to succeed at the box office during its theatrical release despite its glowing audience reception.

Aronofsky, known for Black Swan, Requiem for a Dream, and Mother! released a new action-packed thriller starring Austin Butler, Zoë Kravitz, Matt Smith, and Bad Bunny earlier this year. Unfortunately, the film failed to break even against its $40 million budget and only grossed over $31.1 million.

Caught Stealing will debut on Netflix on November 29 in the U.S., hoping to achieve more recognition once it’s easily available to watch for wider audiences. The film follows New York City bartender Hank (played by Butler) as he’s caught in the middle of a gang war after his punk-rock neighbor Russ (played by Smith) asks Hank to watch his apartment and cat.

Aronofsky’s thriller received recognition when it was available to purchase and sat in the top ten for iTunes movie rentals. Based on the violent crime novel of the same name written by Charlie Huston in 2004, Aronofsky did what he does best and delivered a non-stop thrill ride with plenty of grit, action, and drama.

The R-rated thriller Caught Stealing may be another flop at the box office, but critics have hailed the director and the acting in this fun film. With a Rotten Tomatoes rating of 84%, critics have stated the movie is “wickedly entertaining” and “brings joy, thrills, genuine surprises, fantastic performances, and just enough heartbreak.”

Butler is known for his roles in Elvis, Once Upon a Time…in Hollywood, Dune: Part Two, and The Carrie Diaries. The actor has a busy schedule lined up, including rumored roles in Heat 2, Miami Vice, and Luca Guadagnino’s upcoming remake of the cult classic American Psycho as none other than Patrick Bateman.

Smith is no stranger to the spotlight either, after planting his name in everyone’s minds while playing the iconic sci-fi character The Doctor in Doctor Who. He’s also known for The Crown, Last Night in Soho, and House of the Dragon.

Smith’s upcoming projects aren’t as vast as Butler’s, but he will be appearing in the new season of Game of Thrones’ prequel, House of the Dragon, as well as Star Wars: Starfighter alongside Mia Goth and Ryan Gosling.
