Now all theories have been confirmed, with Doomsday’s origin explained by Superman’s own mother Lara in Superman #31.

Having discovered the Kryptonian facility in which Doomsday was created, Lara explains the scale of the project. As Krypton expanded, they heard the same prophecy across space: Darkseid would reach his “Final God” status one day, ending all life. Taking the duty upon themselves, they set to work on a solution: not a weapon, but “a soldier.”

Originally thought to be an another example of the hubrus of Kryptonian genius (which eventually killed the planet), this Doomsday reveal dramatically alters the truth believed by comic readers for 33 years.
