The Minister of Defence, Mohammed Badaru, on Tuesday, October 28, 2025, received the newly appointed Chief of Defence Staff and Service Chiefs on a maiden courtesy visit to his office at the Ministry of Defence, Ship House, Abuja.
Those in attendance included the Chief of Defence Staff, Lt. Gen. O. O. Oluyede; Chief of Army Staff, Maj. Gen. W. Shaibu, Chief of Naval Staff, Rear Admiral I. Abbas, and Chief of Air Staff, Air Vice Marshal S. K. Aneke.
A statement issued from the Minister’s office described the visit as a reaffirmation of his commitment to fostering unity, collaboration, and strategic leadership within the Armed Forces.
The statement read, “The visit underscores the Minister’s resolve to build a cohesive defence leadership anchored on trust, collaboration, and shared purpose.”
Badaru emphasised the importance of synergy among the Services, stressing that a unified strategy and decisive action were critical to protecting Nigeria’s territorial integrity and advancing national interests.
The Minister further noted that the agenda aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s directives as Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, particularly on strengthening national security.

A statement issued by the presidency said the discussions centred on national security priorities and strategic defence coordination.
“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Monday received the newly nominated Service Chiefs at the Presidential Villa in Abuja. The meeting marked the President’s first official engagement with the new military leadership team, as discussions focused on national security priorities and strategic defence coordination,” the statement read.
