Defence Minister leads FG delegation to Saudi Arabia for Dantata’s burial

Nigeria’s Minister of Defence, Muhammad Badaru has led a delegation of Nigerian government officials to Saudi Arabia for the funeral of one of the nation’s famous businessmen, Alhaji Aminu Hassan Dantata.

The delegation, Politics Nigeria gathered arrived in Saudi Arabia on Monday, June 30, for the burial.

Alhaji Dantata died at the age of 94 on Saturday, June 28, 2025, in Abu Dhabi.

His death was announced by his family who also revealed that the late businessman’s wish was to be buried in Saudi Arabia, the land of the Holy Prophet Mohammed.

The family also announced that authorities had approved their request for Dantata to be buried in Saudi Arabia, beside his wife.

Officials of the Nigerian government are already in Saudi Arabia for Dantata’s burial, the Minister of Justice and Attorney General of the Federation, Lateef Fagbemi; the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris; and the Minister of State for Housing Development, Yusuf Abdullahi Ata.

Others include Islamic scholars like Dr. Bashir Umar, Sheikh Aminu Daurawa, and the imam at Dantata Mosque in Abuja, Khalifa Abdullahi Muhammad.

These government officials will be accompanied to the funeral venue by representatives from the Nigerian Consulate General in Jeddah.

The representatives from Nigeria would be led by Ambassador Muazzam Ibrahim Nayaya.

Nayaya has been in charge of organising the preparations for the funeral planned for a later time on Monday.
