Delegates Storm Osogbo For Osun PDP Governorship Primaries

PDP Osun

Members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Osun State have arrived at the venue of the party’s governorship primary election in Osogbo.

Delegates were seen trooping into the Adolak Hall as early as 11:04 am Tuesday, filling the hall to the brim, under tight security watch ahead of voting.

The primary election came hours after political tension brewed within the Osun PDP leadership, following contrasting public statements on whether the poll would still proceed.

Naijaonpoint had earlier reported that the State PDP Chairman, Sunday Bisi, announced on Monday the withdrawal of the primary election.

In his letter announcing cancellation, Bisi said the primary could not hold due to the crisis rocking the national leadership of the party.

But that position was rebuffed almost immediately by the party’s National Organising Secretary, Theophilus Dakas Shan, who insisted that the primary would hold as scheduled.

The party’s Electoral Committee was fully constituted at the venue, presiding over the decisive stage of candidate selection.

Headed by Chairman Humphrey Abba, the committee also paraded senior members across governance and institutional panels, including:

Chief Marc Jacob

Chief Sanya Atofarati

Chief Anene Azubuike

Dr Sunday Solarin (Secretary)

INEC field monitors were on the ground strictly for observation and documentation, maintaining a visibly neutral posture throughout the engagement.

Earlier reports that Governor Ademola Adeleke pulled out of the PDP primaries came hours before the primary committee and delegates arrived fully to supervise the process.
