The Abia State Governor, Alex Otti has said that the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu is suffering from information deficiency.
Otti made this assertion while speaking with journalists in Umuahia, Abia State’s capital city on Thursday, October 16.
The governor also condemned Kalu’s attempt to berate the efforts of his administration in the state.
Recall that the Deputy Speaker had in the past week said that his party, the All Progressives Congress Party will take over power from the Labour Party in the 2027 general election.
Kalu, while also acknowledging reports of good governance in Abia State under the leadership of Otti as governor said it was important to note that projects in the state would not have come to fruition without financial influence from President Bola Tinubu.
However, reacting to Kalu’s claims, Otti said that while he wants to forgive the Deputy Speaker, he does not feel threatened by his plot to take over power in the state.
“I think he has a few challenges and one of them is what is described as hubris and closely related to that challenge is also what I would, for want of a better word describe as information deficiency syndrome.
“You know, when you’re supposed to be in a place where you have information but you don’t have the real information. And I say this because sometimes when I see him describe himself as number six, I say, Okay. Maybe there’s a change and I may not know that.
“According to the protocol Act or bill of 2000, the number six man should be the Deputy Senate President.
“But if you take out the Chief Justice of the Federation, then the deputy speaker can be number six. Except that has changed and I may not know. But that’s a little part,” Otti noted.
He further stated that Kalu’s outburst stems from the kind of support and love the people of Abia have for him (Otti) and his administration.
He said, “But then, you know people are different, I guess what happened was that he (Kalu) was a bit terrified because he was there in Aba like you rightly mentioned. I think he was terrified by the kind of organic show of love that Aba people showed and it was not just in Aba but also in Umuahia.”
