Sean “Diddy” Combs’ time behind bars has drawn new attention after reports surfaced that he might be facing discipline at his New Jersey prison.
According to CBS News, officials at the Federal Correctional Institution in Fort Dix are looking into whether Diddy made an unauthorized three-person phone call shortly after arriving at the facility. The alleged violation could result in a temporary loss of phone privileges.
Combs’ representative, Juda Engelmayer, told PEOPLE that the call in question was made under attorney-client privilege and should not be considered a violation.
“He is in the drug treatment program and working in the chapel library,” Engelmayer said. “The phone call he was on was initiated by an attorney and it was attorney-client privilege and appropriate.”
The Bureau of Prisons does not permit inmates to add extra participants to a phone call but Diddy’s team insists this situation falls under an exception for legal communications.
Rumors of misconduct have followed the Bad Boy Records founder since his sentencing. Earlier this year, TMZ claimed he was caught drinking homemade alcohol inside the facility, a story his camp strongly denied.
“There have been several false and reckless reports circulating about Mr. Combs,” his spokesperson said in a statement. “He has not violated any prison rules. His sobriety and self-discipline are priorities, and he is taking them seriously.”
Combs, 55, has been serving a 50-month sentence after being convicted on two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution. He was transferred to Fort Dix from the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn, where he had been held since his September 2024 arrest.
