Sean “Diddy” Combs’s legal team was hoping for the rapper to be sentenced as soon as possible, but the disgraced music mogul will have to wait a bit longer.

The rapper was initially scheduled for Sept. 22, but this date has not been pushed back to Oct. 3. The news came as a shock to some of Diddy’s supporters, as his team had been working to expedite his sentencing.

Diddy was found guilty on two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution. He could be sentenced to a maximum of 20 years in prison, 10 years for each count for which he was convicted.

He reportedly received a standing ovation in jail when he returned after being acquitted on sex trafficking and racketeering charges.

“They all said: ‘We never get to see anyone who beats the government,”” his attorney Marc Agnifilo told The Associated Press.

Agnifilo said he was confident his client would be found not guilty.

“They didn’t have a conspiracy, they just didn’t,” he said. “They basically had Combs’ personal life and tried to build racketeering around personal assistants.”
