Sean “Diddy” Combs recently filed a criminal appeal; the music mogul is now weighing possible action related to the Netflix documentary Sean Combs: The Reckoning.
A spokesperson for Diddy told Deadline that he and his team are “still pondering their legal options over the Netflix docuseries and the stolen footage,” referencing behind-the-scenes material featured in the project.
The documentary, which also involves longtime rival 50 Cent, includes footage depicting Diddy in the days leading up to his September 2024 arrest.
“Netflix’s so-called ‘documentary’ is a shameful hit piece. Today’s GMA teaser confirms that Netflix relied on stolen footage that was never authorised for release,” his spokesperson said at the time.
“As Netflix and CEO Ted Sarandos know, Mr. Combs has been amassing footage since he was 19 to tell his own story, in his own way. It is fundamentally unfair, and illegal, for Netflix to misappropriate that work. It is equally staggering that Netflix handed creative control to Curtis ’50 Cent’ Jackson – a longtime adversary with a personal vendetta who has spent too much time slandering Mr. Combs.”
Diddy is currently incarcerated at Fort Dix in New Jersey after being sentenced in October to 30 months following convictions on two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution. He was acquitted of sex trafficking and racketeering charges but continues to face dozens of civil allegations nationwide.
According to updated information from the Federal Bureau of Prisons, Diddy’s projected release date is now May 25, 2028.
