Janice Combs, the mother of jailed rapper Sean “Diddy” Combs, penned a letter to the judge ahead of his sentencing, pleading for mercy.

In her letter, Janice admits that her son has made some “terrible mistakes” but still believes he should be set free from jail when he is sentenced on October 3.

“Unfortunately, my son has made some terrible mistakes in his life which I know he recognizes,” part of the letter reads.

“I will never excuse any wrong doing committed by Sean,” she continued. “I was always very strict with him growing up. I appeal to the kindness of your heart to allow my son to be able to sit at a dinner table with his family. To allow him to raise his children and to instill in them the need to be respectful, get an education and just be God’s children with love in their hearts.”

Diddy was acquitted of his sex trafficking and racketeering conspiracy charges in July, but was convicted of two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution. Each conviction could carry up to 10 years in prison, but prosecutors formally requested a prison sentence of 51 to 63 months.

His defense team is asking the judge to sentence him to 14 months, which would see him walk free next week.
