Governor Douye Diri of Bayelsa State has officially resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
This was announced on Wednesday by his Chief Press Secretary, Daniel Alabrah in a Facebook post.
Alabrah wrote, “Gov. Douye Diri resigns from PDP alongside 23 members of the House of Assembly.”
While he did not state which party the governor will join, developments ahead of the governor’s exit from the PDP indicate that he will be joining the All Progressives Party (APC).
Diri’s exit leaves only Rivers State under the control of the PDP.
THE WHISTLER reports the Enugu State governor, Peter Mbah officially joined the APC on Tuesday.
A few weeks ago, Hon. Randy Awolowo, a core supporter of former governor, Seriake Dickson, who had been an aide to the governor resigned.
Awolowo, a former vice chairman of Ekeremor local government, led some of his former councillors to the APC.
