The feud between Maino and DJ Akademiks is exploding, and it all started with Akademiks clowning Fabolous for how he dresses.
Maino was not having it. During a recent episode of Lets Rap About It, he stopped the entire show to tear into Akademiks for mocking a hip hop veteran.
“Yo, Akademiks, check this out. I know you not talking,” Maino began, instantly turning the room tense. “You got the audacity to be speaking on what people are wearing and their age?” From there, he launched into a fiery roast session.
Maino said, “You a journalist and this is your opinion, so let me give my opinion on you,” before comparing the commentator’s build to “a wet bag of laundry” and “a jar of relish.” He accused Akademiks of being insecure and claimed he knows what women say about “boys like him.”
The clip that sparked the blowup shows Akademiks poking fun at Fabolous, saying, “Fabolous being like 49 with the headband. The headband is for sweat, Fab. You sitting down podcasting. The headband looks wild. This is unc activity.” That hit a nerve, and Maino made it clear the older rappers are “done taking the high road.”
Akademiks is already promising a comeback. In another clip, he admits he is gearing up for a brutal response.
“If the Hennessy is saying roast these dudes, then I am getting on they heads,” he said. He even warned the Lets Rap About It crew, declaring, “I am the Jay Z of this. I do not think y’all were collectively that good at music anyway.”

Still, he tried to set limits, insisting he can take jokes but does not want threats. He added, “I know I cannot see Maino in the street, but on a mic I am Bronny James.”
