Dj Akademiks does not think that Lil Baby should be dropping an album so close to Gunna’s album release last week, and thinks he should drop an EP instead.
On August 8, Gunna dropped his The Last Wun LP, his sixth studio album, which secured a whopping 18.7 million streams in its first 24 hours on Spotify, making it the fourth biggest debut of the year for a rap album. The album is also the highest-charting hip-hop album on US Apple Music.
The album will be his last on Young Thug’s YSL label.
Lil Baby’s The Leak$ drops this Friday, (August 15), but DJ Akadmiks thinks the Atlanta rapper, and now-rival of Gunna, should rethink his strategy.
He says if Lil Baby is ever planning to drop the same week as Wunna, he would lose.
“Gunna might be one of the purest artists in the game right now. He’s not doing no interviews, no talking, no gimmicks, just straight music,” AK said, surprisingly more positive than usual about Lil Baby, who he is known for bashing online.
He added that he may even want to consider making his project an EP instead and that Gunna will even outsell his label boss, Young Thug.
“Gunna will embarrass you. Gunna is three times hotter than Lil Baby and I’m saying that respectfully.”
