DJ Akademiks opened up about the beef between Drake and Kendrick Lamar, revealing that he had personally told Drake to stop talking about the Compton rapper.
Ak shared what he allegedly told the global superstar.
“When I mean leave him alone, we got to leave the moment. There’s no more direct engagement. Ain’t no more with diss songs. It’s over,” Ak told Vlad.
Ak says that Drizzy will now be using the “Jay-Z approach,” and throwing subs at his opps instead, which is what he was doing before the beef erupted last summer.
“After this battle, it should be Drake’s last. Like, why engage with rappers, any of these situations, you have nothing to gain? Would you go on a business deal you got nothing to gain?” he explained.
Drake recently faced a huge disappointment after his defamation lawsuit against UMG was dismissed by a judge.
“Although the accusation that Plaintiff is a pedophile is certainly a serious one, the broader context of a heated rap battle, with incendiary language and offensive accusations hurled by both participants, would not incline the reasonable listener to believe that ‘Not Like Us’ imparts verifiable facts about Plaintiff,” Judge Jeanette A. Vargas wrote in her ruling.
At the time, Drake’s attorneys vowed to appeal the decision.
