DJ Akademiks is once again taking aim at Ebro Darden following the radio host’s recent firing from Hot 97, using the moment to reignite a feud that has simmered publicly for years.
After news of the axing spread, Akademiks mocked Darden on X, joking that he showed up to his other job “extra early,” already using his “corporate voice,” and learning he was “just a f–king worker not no boss.”
“N—a lost one job and showed up to the other job extra early.. making infomercials in the lobby while waiting to clock in,” Ak wrote. “Got his corporate voice on.. he finally learned he just a f–kin worker not no boss. I feel u bro … can’t get fired twice in a week.

Their beef dates back to Akademiks’ Everyday Struggle era.
During one heated exchange in 2020, Darden dismissed Akademiks as “a cornball with a microphone,” accusing him of lacking accountability. Akademiks fired back at the time, calling Darden “an old head mad the culture don’t move when he talks anymore,” a remark that went viral and cemented their animosity.

Darden addressed his Hot 97 exit.
These decisions are bigger than any one person,” adding that he was grateful for his time at the station and focused on “the next chapter.” He also emphasized that change is part of media, writing, “I’m good. Always have been.”
