DJ Mustard’s divorce from Chanel Thierry may be finalized, but their legal drama is far from over. The chart-topping producer has returned to court asking for sole legal custody of their three children, claiming his ex-wife’s social media activity has crossed a line and is harming their co-parenting efforts.
In newly filed court papers, Mustard, born Dijon McFarlane, argues that Chanel has repeatedly taken public shots at him online despite a standing court order that bars both parents from speaking negatively about one another in ways their children could see or hear.
The former couple currently share legal custody of their kids, Kiylan, 13, Kauner, 10, and Kody, 6.
Mustard points to several posts he says violated that agreement. In one October Threads message, Chanel allegedly wrote, “Dijon I know you are reading this, I’m so sick of your shht. You suck.”
In another, she reflected on their split, writing, “I’ve been divorced 3 years now and my ex husband continues to do things to purposely get under my skin,” adding, “A man will treat your child according to how he feels about the mother.”
According to Mustard, those statements drew heavy engagement online and, in his view, undermined healthy co-parenting. He claims ...s “negatively impact the best interests” of their children and says the only solution is to grant him sole legal custody.
He is also asking the court to fine Chanel $30,000 for allegedly ignoring previous orders.
Mustard and Chanel married in 2020 and finalized their divorce in 2024. Their settlement included a $315,000 spousal support buyout for Chanel and $24,500 per month in child support from Mustard.
