The lawmaker representing Sokoto South Senatorial District has mocked the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) following his arrest and detention by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
Recall that Tambuwal was detained by the EFCC over allegations of fraudulent activities to the tune of N189 billion.
Speaking to some of his supporters during his visit to Sokoto, hours after his release from the EFCC, Tambuwal described the APC as a party where all “sinners” are forgiven.
Also, describing his detention as some form of intimidation by the ruling party and the government in power, Tambuwal said he would not join the APC.
“You know that they have a saying in APC that once you join APC, whatever your sins are, they will be forgiven.
“Now, I want to ask you a question, do you want us to join the APC so that our sins would be forgiven?” Tambuwal asked his supporters.
To this, the teeming crowd shouted “No!”
Again, the former governor asked, “Do you want us to continue to work with the coalition?”
The crowd answered in unison, “Yes!”
He added, “That’s what you are going to hear, that I can not be intimidated and no man can tarnish my records that God has given me.”
