The Anambra Police Command have warned social media critic, Martins Otse, also known as VeryDarkMan, over his planned candlelight procession in Awka, warning that it could disturb public peace.

Naijaonpoint reports that Otse had announced plans to honour the late Ifesinachi Onyekere, also known as Fish Magnet, who was abducted and killed by suspected gunmen.

He explained that the event was intended to draw attention to security challenges in the state.

However, the Anambra State Police Command, through its spokesperson, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, said on Tuesday that the Commissioner of Police, Ikioye Orutugu, has warned Otse against making statements or organizing events that could spark unrest.

According to the police, the Onyekere family has also distanced themselves from the proposed event, asking to be left alone to mourn their loved one in private while authorities continue investigations.

The police maintained that Anambra remains one of the calmest states in the region due to ongoing efforts by security agencies and community leaders.

They stated that no one would be allowed to interfere with the stability of the state, regardless of their popularity or influence.

Residents were encouraged to continue their daily activities without fear.

The police also reminded public figures and social media users to avoid sharing information or opinions that could create fear or confusion.
