Lawyer to the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Ifeanyi Ejiofor, has commended the inauguration of state vigilante group, Agunechemba, in Anambra State.

Naijaonpoint reported that Governor Chukwuma Soludo during the inauguration of the vigilante group charged them to crush the hideout of unknown gunmen and kidnappers in the state.

In a statement by the Commissioner for Information, Law Mefor, Governor Soludo said Agunechemba would complement other security agencies to address the state’s rising insecurity challenges.

While commending the Governor for inaugurating the vigilante group, Ejiofor warned against using the group to arm-twist opposition politicians ahead of the November governorship election in the state.

His words: “I have carefully reviewed the Anambra State Homeland Security Law 2025, which establishes the “Agunechemba” security outfit. My reflections align with the wisdom of a popular Igbo adage, “Osita di mma odibara gboo,” loosely translating to “it is still early in the day to make things right and achieve better results.” This underscores the opportunity to lay a strong foundation for the outfit’s success.

“As the November 2025 Anambra gubernatorial election approaches, I urge the Governor and his team to ensure that the Agunechemba security outfit remains free from political interference. It must not fall into the hands of political predators or be misused as a tool for oppression, intimidation, or harassment. Instead, its core objective – ensuring the security and welfare of the people – must be preserved above all else.

“Security is a shared responsibility. Every citizen has a role to play in restoring Anambra State’s former glory. Together, we can achieve a safer, more prosperous homeland.”
