The Lagos State Police Command has invited Pastor Chris Okafor to report at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Panti, over allegations of multiple rape and other offences.

The invitation was served on the cleric through his legal representative, directing him to appear before investigators by 10am on Monday, January 5, 2026.

In a statement on Sunday, the police said the invitation followed several petitions alleging rape, other sexual offences, and conduct likely to cause a breach of public peace.

The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Olohundare Jimoh, directed the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of SCID to carry out a thorough investigation into the allegations.

The development comes days after Pastor Okafor publicly apologised to actress Doris Ogala during a church service over allegations of abandonment and sexual misconduct, though he denied parts of her claims.

Police said the investigation covers alleged capital offences and other serious crimes, and the pastor is expected to cooperate fully with detectives.

The command also announced that full security coverage has been provided for alleged victims, encouraging them to come forward to report their complaints at SCID, Panti.

According to the police, the identities of victims and witnesses will be kept strictly confidential and adequately protected throughout the investigation.

The command further called on members of the public with credible information or evidence related to the case to assist the investigation without fear.

CP Jimoh assured that the probe would be conducted professionally, transparently, and without bias, stressing that no individual is above the law.
