WATCH THE VIDEO HERE Canadian rapper and alleged gangster Top5 has been arrested in connection with a firearm investigation. On Friday, a search warrant was executed ,and Top5, real name Hassan Ali, was arrested and hit with multiple charges, including unauthorized possession of a firearm and possession of a firearm while prohibited. Another man, Yasin Ali, was also arrested. Last summer, Top5 was released from prison after social media evidence was dismissed. Prosecutors believed at the time that the social media evidence linked him to a 2021 Los Angeles murder of a man named Hashim Omar Hashi. His defense attorney, Gary Grill, claimed that Top5’s Drill lyrics were used against him in court. “The problem about prosecuting artists like Mr. Ali based on their music is it fails to understand what the medium is, what it’s about, and how drillers approach their audiences. It’s important for all drillers to portray themselves as the biggest, baddest gangsters on the planet. That’s what sells. That’s what all drillers are doing,” Grill said.
