Driver in Anthony Joshua accident charged with manslaughter

A driver named Kayode Adeniyi who was involved in a fatal accident involving boxer Anthony Joshua, has been arraigned at an Ogun state high court and charged with manslaughter. 

The court sitting in Sagamu also charged the 47 year old driver with reckless driving. 

Adeniyi, who was driving the vehicle conveying Joshua and his friends, was previously arrested and questioned at the Eleweran Police Station before being charged to court.

Recall the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) had blamed the driver for overspeeding and wrongful overtaking, which reportedly led to the car crashing into a stationary truck on the highway.

According to The Guardian, a police source confirmed that the suspect is standing trial, adding that more details are expected as proceedings continue.

Anthony Joshua, a two-time world heavyweight champion, has since been discharged from hospital following the accident, which occurred on Monday, December 29, 2025.

Meanwhile two of his associates died in the accident in a tragic turn of events which has left many sad and heartbroken.
