THE Ebonyi State Police Command has successfully rescued two kidnapped students in Ikwo Local Government Area and arrested three suspects linked to the abduction.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Anthonia Uche-Anya, disclosed this today during a press briefing at the command headquarters in Abakaliki.
She explained that operatives acted on intelligence and stormed an uncompleted building where the victims were being held, freeing them unhurt.
The arrested suspects are currently in custody as investigations continue.
Highlighting recent achievements of the command, CP Uche-Anya revealed that between July and mid-August 2025, 131 suspects were arrested for various offences, with 52 already charged to court.
The command also recovered six vehicles, 15 firearms, 50 rounds of ammunition, and dismantled several criminal hideouts across the state.
Acknowledging Ebonyi’s history of recurring land and boundary disputes during farming seasons, the commissioner said the police have adopted both early-warning mechanisms and non-kinetic conflict resolution strategies, engaging stakeholders to promote dialogue over violence.
She further reported progress in other operations, including arrests connected to the Ekoli Edda crisis that led to the killing of Udu Nnachi in July, as well as the recovery of an AK-47 rifle, vehicles, and other items from hoodlums in Ohaukwu Local Government.
The police also arrested a suspected crisis instigator in Ivo Local Government on August 14.
Uche-Anya thanked residents for their cooperation and urged continued vigilance, assuring that the police remain committed to safeguarding lives and property across the state.
