EDO: Govt recovers 30 vehicles from ex-government officials

Okungbowa commended whistleblowers for their crucial role in providing information that led to the recoveries, including four vehicles taken from the residence of a former senior official and another from an unrelated individual.

“We have recovered two Land Cruiser Jeeps and two Toyota Hilux vehicles from a former high-ranking official of the last government. One of the vehicles had campaign posters and umbrellas inside it.

“Another Hilux was retrieved, bringing the total number of vehicles recovered since our operation began to 30,” Okungbowa stated.

He reassured Edo residents that additional recoveries will occur before the committee’s two-week deadline for completing its mandate.

“We urge the public to provide more information to assist our operations. Whistleblowers have been key to our success, and we are committed to rewarding those who offer valuable tips,” he added.

Okungbowa mentioned that the committee is ready to travel across the country to recover state-owned vehicles wherever they may be found.

It’s worth noting that the committee previously recovered three vehicles last Friday: one Hilux van and two Toyota Hiace buses.

One of the buses was discovered to contain bags of rice intended for palliative distribution to Edo residents.

The chairman reaffirmed the committee’s commitment to ensuring that all government assets are accounted for and returned to the state.
