EDO: Govt writes Okpebholo, APC on formation of transition team

This team will collaborate with the outgoing administration’s transition team to ensure a smooth handover of responsibilities.

In a letter dated October 10, 2024, the Secretary to the State Government, Joseph Eboigbe, explained that forming the transition team will allow both sides to engage in meaningful discussions and exchange key information necessary for a seamless transfer of governance.

It is worth recalling that in July 2024, Edo State Governor Godwin Obaseki inaugurated a 20-member transition committee, led by Joseph Eboigbe, tasked with overseeing the smooth transfer of power and knowledge to the incoming administration.

The letter reads, “I hope this message finds you well. As we approach the transition of power, we recognize the importance of establishing a smooth and effective collaboration between your team and our administration.”

Eboigbe further stated, “To facilitate this process, we request that you and your party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), begin forming your transition team at your earliest convenience. This will allow for meaningful discussions and the sharing of vital information, ensuring a smooth transfer of responsibilities and continuity of governance.”

The Secretary to the State Government added, “We are fully committed to supporting this process and providing the necessary resources to ensure an efficient transition. As a next step, we propose October 14, 2024, for the inaugural meeting between both Transition Committees.”

“We look forward to your timely response and to collaborating closely with you and your team in the coming weeks to lay the foundation for a successful administration that fulfills the expectations of the people,” he concluded.

The letter, addressed to Senator Monday Okpebholo, was reportedly received by Joy Oyere, the administrative secretary at the Secretariat of the Edo State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC). However, no response has been received yet.
