A mild drama ensued on early Sunday morning as Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki, was forced out of the collation of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Obasaki gained entry very early into the premises of INEC located in Benin, leading to protest from the All Progressives Congress (APC).

As soon as members of the All Progressives Congress, led by Monday Okpebholo’s running mate, Dennis Idahosa, got wind of his presence, they began to protest and demand the exit of the governor.

Obaseki, who was there for almost two hours, was eventually removed from the centre at about 3.30am by DIG Frank Mba.

As he was being escorted out of the premises, mobile policemen deployed to the INEC office shouted at the governor, “Leave, leave, you are not supposed to be here, leave”

Speaking to journalists shortly after Obaseki’s exit, the All Progressives Congress National Secretary, Surajudeen Basiru, said “He is not a candidate. He has no reason to be here.”
