Edo Guber: Ighodalo’s Running Mate, Ogie Speaks On Dumping PDP For APC

Osarodion Ogie

The running mate to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate in the Edo 2024 governorship election, Osarodion Ogie, has denied reports circulating online alleging that he has defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Naijaonpoint reports that Ogie, a former Secretary to the State Government, described the report as mischievous, deceitful, and unfounded, asserting his continued commitment and loyalty to the PDP.

In a statement released on Friday by his aide, Blessing Agbo, Ogie debunked the rumours, stating that he had “neither held meetings nor discussions” with any APC stakeholders regarding a defection.

“We have been made aware of a misleading post currently circulating on social media, falsely claiming that our respected father and political leader, Osarodion Ogie, has decamped to the All Progressives Congress,” the statement read.

“This falsehood, shared by one ‘Ohio’, is not only deceitful but full of calculated lies and manipulation.”

Ogie described the report as a desperate attempt by those who allegedly conspired with INEC and the judiciary to thwart the will of the Edo people by working against what he termed the most visionary and competent team to lead the state.

The PDP chieftain called on party faithful and supporters across the state to disregard the claims and remain steadfast.

“Let it be known that Osarodion Ogie, the esteemed running mate to Asue Ighodalo, remains a committed and loyal member of the People’s Democratic Party,” the statement affirmed.

“At no point has he considered, initiated, or even entertained the idea of defecting to the APC. Any reports suggesting otherwise should be disregarded in their entirety.”

He further urged the public and lovers of democracy to resist the distraction.

“The truth will always prevail and history will vindicate those who stood for it,” the statement concluded.
