Edo: Okpebholo Signs Reversed Appropriation Bill Into Law

The Governor of Edo State, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has officially signed a revised Appropriation Bill into law, totaling N485.63 billion.

This move underscores the administration’s commitment to driving developmental initiatives across the state.

The budget, as approved by the Edo State House of Assembly, allocates N202.65 billion for recurrent expenditure and N282.99 billion for capital projects, reflecting the government’s focus on infrastructure and economic growth.

Speaking on Monday, November 18, at the Executive Council Chamber of Government House in Benin City, Governor Okpebholo commended the state lawmakers for the swift passage of the bill.

He noted that this development lays a strong foundation for transformative governance in Edo State.

“I sincerely appreciate the cooperation of the Edo lawmakers and their prompt action in passing this bill. With this kind of synergy, Edo State is poised for unprecedented growth. I see a united team committed to the progress of our state,” the governor stated.

The signing ceremony was attended by the Speaker of the Edo House of Assembly, Chief Blessing Agbebaku, alongside 23 other members of the legislature.

Agbebaku reiterated the Assembly’s dedication to supporting the administration’s vision and ensuring seamless governance.

“The 8th Assembly worked diligently to pass this appropriation law quickly to enable the new administration to begin its projects without delay,” Agbebaku said. “Government is a continuum, and we remain committed to advancing development for the benefit of Edo State residents.”

The bill, initially presented on November 13, 2024, underwent expedited review and approval, highlighting the collaborative spirit between the executive and legislative branches of government.
