EDO: Police arrest pastor, one other for murder of seven-year-old

According to police spokesperson Moses Yamu, the incident was reported by the boy’s father, John Okhojibole, who alerted authorities after his son went missing.

Tragically, Evans’ mutilated body was discovered 24 hours later in a nearby bush, with his stomach ripped open, feet severed from the ankle, and fingers cut off.

Yamu confirmed that the suspects were apprehended by operatives from the Irrua Divisional Headquarters and have since been transferred to the State Criminal Investigations Department (SCID) in Benin City for further investigation.

The police have also arrested Ibrahim Agboje (King), Yakubu Abudulkareem, and Kareem Audu over the murder of Vigilante Commander Victor Ogedengbe (50) in Erah Camp, Owan East Local Government Area.

According to Yamu, Ogedengbe was attacked on his farm by suspected herdsmen. His death was reported by the Owan East LGA Chairman, prompting an immediate police investigation that led to the arrest of three suspects, who have also been transferred to the SCID for further questioning.

Meanwhile, the police have stepped up security in Uzanu and surrounding areas following the killing of two farmers by suspected herdsmen in Okpekpe Community.

The Commissioner of Police, Betty Enekpen Otimenyin reaffirmed the command’s commitment to ensuring safety across Edo State.

She urged residents to cooperate with law enforcement and report suspicious activities, emphasizing: “If you see something, say something.”
