THE Edo State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of a woman for injuring a teenager who worked in her home.

In a statement from the command’s spokesperson, Moses Yamu, it was reported that the woman used heated metal objects to harm the boy.

“On January 11, 2025, at approximately 7:45 PM, we received a report that Abigail Oluwarotimi, a 31-year-old woman, heated a metal object in a fire and used it to burn her house help, Jude Joseph, a 15-year-old boy. As a result, the victim sustained injuries to his lap and genitals,” the statement read.

The police confirmed that the suspect was quickly apprehended and admitted to the crime, claiming her actions were prompted by allegations that the boy had molested her children. The victim is currently receiving medical treatment.

The statement also noted that the Commissioner of Police for Edo State, CP Umoru Ozigi, expressed concern over the incident and has ordered the immediate transfer of the case to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for a thorough and discreet investigation.

The command cautioned the public against taking the law into their own hands and emphasized the importance of allowing legal processes to unfold.
