Senator Monday Okpebholo, governor of Edo state, has appointed Munirat Anto Lecky, former Big Brother Naija housemate and media entrepreneur, as senior special assistant on tourism and creative economy.
The appointment, which took effect on June 23, 2025, was confirmed in a letter signed by Umar Musa Ikhilor, secretary to the state government.
Lecky is currently serving as special assistant on digital and new media to Shuaibu Audu, Minister of steel development.
She is expected to bring her experience in media and the creative industry to help promote Edo state’s tourism and cultural assets.
According to the letter, the appointment is part of efforts by the Okpebholo administration to harness the state’s potential in heritage tourism, especially in light of the return of the Benin Bronzes and ongoing museum projects.
“The governor of Edo state, His Excellency, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has approved your appointment as senior special assistant to the governor on tourism and creative economy with effect from June 23, 2025,” the letter stated.
Reacting to the appointment, Lecky said she was grateful for the opportunity to serve.
She wrote on Instagram: “I am honoured to serve my state and my country in this new role.
“With the return of our priceless Benin Bronzes, upcoming museum projects, and a growing creative sector, Edo is poised to become a leader in Nigeria’s tourism and cultural economy.”
