TWO members of the Edo State House of Assembly have defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), further weakening the PDP’s presence in the state legislature.
The defectors, Eugene Inegbeboh (Igueben Constituency) and Andrew Uzamere (Ovia II Constituency), were officially received into the APC today at the party’s secretariat in Benin by the State Chairman, Jarrett Tenebe.
Their defection reduces the PDP’s seat count in the ninth assembly from 15 to just four, while the APC now holds 20 seats, consolidating its majority.
Speaking at the reception, Tenebe described the development as part of a broader political awakening across Edo State, emphasizing the APC’s commitment to inclusiveness, discipline, and development.
“There are no old or new members in APC—we are one united family,” he said. “Your arrival strengthens our vision and brings valuable experience that will enrich our grassroots outreach.”
He urged citizens to continue supporting Governor Monday Okpebholo and his administration’s people-focused agenda.
In response, the new APC lawmakers expressed gratitude for the warm welcome and pledged to contribute meaningfully to the party’s growth and governance goals.
