WATCH THE VIDEO HERE In its ongoing efforts to clean up Nigeria’s financial sector and provide the investing public with accurate and trustworthy information, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has alerted Nigerians about the activities of 58 companies posing as legitimate investment entities, but instead defrauding innocent citizens of their hard-earned money. These companies are not registered with the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) or the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), the two regulatory bodies that oversee investment activities in the country. Both agencies have confirmed to the EFCC that none of these companies are registered with them. The EFCC has taken legal action against several of these companies, with five already convicted, another five pleading guilty but awaiting fact review, while the rest are still pending arraignment.
