Super Eagles of Nigeria’s preparations for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations officially got underway on Sunday, December 14, with the training camp opening in Cairo, Egypt, Soccernet.ng reports.

The team is based at the Renaissance Hotels as final plans are put in place ahead of the AFCON tournament slated to be held in Morocco.

Goalkeeper Francis Uzoho set the tone for the camp, becoming the first player to report for duty. The Cyprus-based shot-stopper arrived in Cairo shortly after 2:00 am local time on Sunday morning, which only shows an early commitment to Nigeria’s AFCON campaign.

All members of the coaching crew and backroom staff are already in camp, ensuring that logistical and technical preparations are in place as the rest of the squad is expected to arrive in the coming days.

Uzoho’s early arrival offers head coach Eric Chelle an immediate boost, especially after the goalkeeper earned a recall to the national team following a period away from the setup.
