Ehi Braimah, Azuh Arinze, others pay tribute as Ken-Calebs Olumese honoured with special award

Lagos enjoyed a night of nostalgia and celebration on Sunday as The Forum by Ojez awarded Guv’ Ken Calebs Olumese with a Special Recognition Award for his exceptional contributions to Nigeria’s hospitality and entertainment industry.

This accolade solidifies his legacy as a pioneer who transformed nightlife and empowered countless entertainers.

Prominent figures, including Ehi Braimah, Azuh Arinze, Mayor Akinpelu, Sunny Neji, and Charles Inojie, paid heartfelt tributes to Olumese’s selflessness, discipline, and generosity.

They emphasized his role in shaping careers and described him as someone who greatly valued professionalism, providing many individuals with their first significant break in the industry.

Segun Arinze, while reading the citation, referred to Olumese as a cultural curator who created a prestigious platform for emerging talent at his renowned NiteShift Coliseum. Often called the “Governor of Nigeria’s Nightlife,” Olumese’s influence reached far beyond entertainment. His nightclub served as a hub for strategic networking, social discourse, and national engagement, frequently hosting top business and political figures. His impeccable style, leadership, and ability to blend entertainment with diplomacy distinguish him as a true icon.

In his acceptance speech, Olumese expressed gratitude to Ojez Entertainment Chairman Joseph Odobeatu for recognizing him even in retirement. Reflecting on his enduring success, he attributed it to his strong character and the lasting relationships he built with supporters from the beginning of NiteShift.

He encouraged young entertainers to embrace hard work, professionalism, and discipline in their careers. The Ojez Band entertained guests with a mix of nostalgic and contemporary music, creating a delightful atmosphere for the evening.
