Funmi Ogun

Mrs Funmilayo Ogun, former Commissioner for Works and Transportation in Ekiti State, has obtained the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms for the 2026 governorship election at the party’s National Secretariat in Abuja.

Speaking at the event, Ogun described the moment as a significant milestone for Nigeria’s democratic development, stressing the importance of competence, unity, and transparency in governance.

“This form marks the beginning of changing the narrative. I step forward to offer competence, capacity, and transparency in delivering the dividends of democracy to our people through people-oriented governance,” she said.

Ogun further emphasised that her candidacy reflects the aspirations of millions of Nigerian women seeking greater representation in leadership and decision-making roles.

She called for gender inclusiveness and a level playing field, while reiterating the need for capable and effective leadership.

Expressing gratitude to her supporters, Ogun urged them to remain committed. “Thank you for standing by me. The work has just begun. Let’s do it together and make history,” she concluded.
